You really need to persevere and establish a routine.

Why not take him shopping and let him pick a character toothbrush he wants and then he might try himself, even if he chews the toothbrush to get used to it being in his mouth and you progress slowly it has to be better than nothing. Try and make it into a game - let him clean your and you clean his, got to be worth a try.

When he is asleep try using a wet cotton bud to wipe them over- he may not notice that as much as a toothbrush

Most dentists say not to worry about cleaning a child's teeth until they are 3 or 4. The best thing to do is to get them a small child's toothbrush, and show them how to brush their own teeth. They'll do it for fun. When they get to be around 2, buy them training toothpaste (tastes good), and reinforce regular brushing after meals and before bedtime. I would not do the hydrogen peroxide at all - it tastes awful and accomplishes little, unless the child has infections in it's mouth.

My daughter used to do the same thing. So i took her to the shop and let her pick a toothbrush that appealled to her and gave her a range of tooth pastes to pick from. Cleaning the teeth is really important. But uts also hard to do for a young baby. The answer i have meantioned worked for me. Also brush your teeth infront of your son and make it a fun experience.

I'm not sure if peroxide is safe for a nine month old. They do make infant tooth pastes. But, its not absolutely neccessary that you start to brush his teeth now. It won't kill him. If he is fighting you, I'd wait until he got a little older and can understand what you are trying to do. My daughter is 13 months and we tried, but she fights us and bites down on the toothbrush. So, we will wait another year or so.

Just wipe them with a washcloth and whatever your pediatrician said. You need to learn how, b/c you'll be cleaning his teeth on your own for at least the next two years or so.

You don't need to scrub them, just a gentle wipe. I do my babies' teeth when they are in the bathtub... more stuff for them to be interested in ... and it only takes me a quick second for the baby (11 mo) and my son who is two brushes his own teeth in the a.m. and during his night time bath, I brush his teeth again.

A quick wipe with a washcloth during bathtime should be just fine. Use the solution your dr. recommended though.

My son is 8 months and I use the brand "grins and giggles" for him. It also comes with a very soft brush that you slip over your finger. He likes the taste of it and gets excited when he sees the little brush. I know not all babies are the same, but try it - it may work.

I think you might have to wait until he is older. Its only really bad for him to not get his teeth cleaned if you are giving him juice (the sugar will rot his teeth) or let him fall asleep with a bottle of milk (there is sugar in milk, too).

try with just water and gauze H2O2 tastes horrable

it shouldn't be much of a problem as long as you never give the baby a bottle to go to sleep with (ditto on cups with valves) and never give juice from a bottle or sippy cup

It is better to clean them. Some babies have a tendency to getting severe decay on their teeth, and, if your son is one of them, it could have serious consequences. It also won't get any easier when he is a year old.

i was a dental assistant for seven years and in my opinion i would use peroxide this can make their teeth sensitive at that age since they love chewing on things i recommend a washcloth they can chew while you use you finger to clean them up a bit
