I'm 13 and I've had a cold for about a year. It never went away, and my stupid doctor never prescribed anything for it. I can only breathe through my mouth or 1 nostril at a time. I REALLY MISS BREATHING THROUGH MY NOSE! What is the best OTC medicine I can use to treat this, and make sure it goes away? I don't like to take pills, but if I have to I will. I prefer liquid or anything else.

you need a new doctor. a year is too long to have a cold.

there is no medication for a cold! Cold is caused by a virus, there is nothing out there to cure a virus, you can take something to ease your symptoms, but that's it. Furthermore, a cold does not last for one year. You either have allergies or something is seriously wrong with your immune system. In any case, you need to see a doctor.

Maybe you need treatment for allergies instead of a cold? A cold should not last for a year. I think you need to find a new doctor.

Well if it has been this bad for a year your doctor should prescribe something. I personally don't like to take medicine, so i usually drink lots of orange juice and water and have noodle soup. If you can't sleep at night i recommend niquil i don't think that's how you spell it, but it's a green medicine so hope you get better.

Vitamin C.

This is a safe element, you want to increase your body's absorbtion by slowly incrementing its dose from 500 mg per day to 1000, to 1500, then up to 5000 mg per day.

This is fairly cheap and you can get it from a pharmacy, but don't ask the pharmacist, because he will tell you to go see a doctor.

It won't do you any harm, at the very least, you'll feel better.

Um, if it's been more than a year, there is no way it's a cold. It's probably allergies. Try Claritin or Claritin-D.
