Why did you quit your job without having another one lined up? And when you start out, you can't be too picky. There are people who have worked their longer than you and they get to choose the premo hours, you work the rest.
And you've only gone 3 places, what? You should be hitting 3 places an afternoon - but shoot for 5. You can't feel that horrible - you're not even trying. They don't know you're looking for a job, unless you put your face under their noses (applications)
I've hired lots of people, and if you come to me with restriction on what you can and can;t do (school being the only understandable obstacle) then I move on to someone else who has 100% availability. See, you are showing right off that you are a problem child.

The first thing you need to do is find the places that you want to work. This can be done by checking the newspapers, searching online for jobs in your city, searching for jobs at http://craigslist.com or by walking (or riding) your bike anywhere that there is a company you might like to work for.
The next thing that you need to do is dress up as if you were attending a wedding or a special religious function. Dress to your best. When you are applying for a job (filling out the application or having a job interview), you are “selling” your first impression. You want the perspective employer to be sold on your appearance as well as your attitude. You might not get an immediate interview when you fill out an application but there is a chance that the manager might want to interview you right there on the spot and you need to be prepared for that.
If you are not interviewed that day, wait about three days and then check back with them to see if the position is still open. This persistence shows a desire to work for them.
When you are being interviewed, look the interviewer in the eyes as you answer his/her questions. This shows confidence and honesty and they will appreciate it. Once the interview is over, ask them for a business card. If they do not have one, be sure to get their name and write it down.
Once you have been interviewed and you go home, type up a thank you letter to the interviewer. This letter should do the following:
* Thank the interviewer for taking the time to talk with you.
* Let him/her know how good you felt about the job possibility and the company after your interview.
*Give “bullets” as to why you are the most qualified applicant for the job (i.e. I am very reliable. I am very punctual. I am a quick learner. I have x years management experience. I have received X work accommodations on my last job. …)
*Thank the interviewer again for his/her time and make it known the you look forward to hearing back from them and hopefully working with them in the near future.
It is amazing how few people actually write the thank you letter and it is equally amazing how effective this thank you letter works.
I hope that this helps you in your endeavor.
All the best to you!

Let's learn a few life lessons here...First, don't quit a job until you have a new one lined up. Second, if you haven't found your dream job, find a job you can live with until you do. Whether WalMart is a good place for you to work for the rest of your life is irrelevant. Is it a place you can work until you find a better job...yeah, probably.
July 6 edit: Robsthings brings up a good point. When I was ready to retire from the Air Force, I sent out over 300 letters and resumes around the country. I realize you are young, but confining yourself to a geographic area restricts your opportunities. Even if you can't/won't leave the area, 3 applications is really not much. Expand your search.

Go for the internet business, which requires less of your time and the one that will not make you feel headache with web designing, or which require IT knowledge. Second, choose the internet based company which offer you the opportunity and at the same time giving you the convenience to start the business. Third, choose the business, which does not require big money to start it.
All the above is only available from: http://www.website.ws/powercontrol
Honestly, I tried so many opportunities offered through the internet and this is the only one that really works.
PLEASE NOTE: You only will understand the whole marketing concept if you read every details & the trial period is FREE!

You must go from place to place yourself...the days of mailing resumes is dead...be your own resume' . IF you want a higher paying job, do some research into the company(s) you are applying to ... show some knowledge and "get up and go." This kind of attitude goes a long way with an employer. Good luck

First of all...you are supposed to find a new job before you quit your old one! As for now, if I were you I would take what I could get and keep searching. Chances are you will have to apply to more than 3 places to find employment that suits your needs. Good luck!

Try all the big online job searches, ie., Monster, Hotjobs...ect. Also, try you local newspaper's classified. If you are looking for a speciality there are job boards usually for each. So if you are looking for hospitals try their online Job boards or mortgage/title there are places like mortgageboard.com. And last but not least, try your local staffing agencies. They can usually get you somewhere within a week.

If it's Walmart you want for now, do it.
You're the one that is feeling depressed, not your mom.
To thine own self be true!
That includes going against what mom thinks.
