I know this used to be big thing with Wendy's burgers. I don't think they taste the same as they used to. I used to love Wendy's burgers, but not anymore. Did they switch to frozen patties? If so, when did it happen?

The meat is never frozen, always fresh. It is strictly against Wendy's policy to be otherwise.

And the chili meat is meat cooked dark, diced, and put directly into chili which, in turn, cooks for four hours before serving.
All meat is held on line for a limited time. If it is not put in chili by a certain time, it is simply thrown away.

After all "Quality is our recipe!"

Seems a lot of assumptions around here about Wendy's here abouts.

I worked for Wendy's when I was in high school. They used frozen beef but it was defrosted before it went on the grill. So I guess they may say there burgers are made from fresh meat? lol The burned or old meat was used for chili.

ewwww i hate wendy's totally gross.. I have a hard time eating because I saw how it was prepared...

Wendy's beef is fresh - not frozen. Depending on what part of the country you live in the local Wendy's supplier will obtain their meat from different sources. In the south it's a meat plant in Atlanta - in the north and Midwest it comes from Wisconsin. In Texas and the western states its Amarillo.

I worked for Wendys......... and yes they did switch to shipped frozen pre-pattied hamburger. It happened in the year of 1986-1987. And after they did that, I did not like the hamburgers anymore.

refrigeration would not injury meat on the cellular point, as freezing does. whilst the liquid content cloth of the beef types ice crystals, the crystals demolish the pink meat's cellular shape; whilst the beef is thawed, air greater actually penetrates and oxidizes the beef. This cellular injury is the reason that folk with frostbite lose palms and feet, and it fairly is the conventional reason residing issues many times can't be frozen, thawed, and then delivered lower back to existence. Chilled yet on no account-frozen meat keeps its unique cellular shape, which permits to seal out air and shop it clean.
