I think the ref made the best call he could under the circumstances. He didn't have replay options available to him the way the rest of us did while watching it on tv. After seeing the replay for the 5th time, it's easy to say that France didn't deserve the penalty kick. My hat's off to the ref for making the call quickly based on what he saw. If Portugal wasn't known for playing dirty, tackling hard, pushing, etc, maybe the ref would have sided more with them.

What's the point of making comments? People always see things different if they wish to. Carvalho fell on the ground and Henry 'decided' to trip on his leg, but who cares: the frogs are now in a final, Zidane will get his high profile farewell, FIFA will make a lot of money, and we will still be here in four years believing this is all fair...

it was fair, the French deserve this win. i think the referee prefers Portugal side though, 4 extra minutes in the 2nd half was really unnecessary. it should be just 2 minutes

Right or wrong, that's what he saw. Referee's decisions are part of football. Live with it.

It was a 'soft' penalty but Carvalio did lift his following foot up to stop Henry. so on reflection it probably WAS a penalty.

Portugal haven't scored for 4 hours in nornal play so they don't DESERVE anything.

good call...could you imagine if the roles were reversed...Portugal would have gone crazy.( much like they did the whole game when the ref ignored the dives...good game ref)
