If you don't put sunscreen on your children, and they become sunburned, would you consider this the same thing as purposely burning your child - say with scalding water, or letting them play with matches? I just don't understand some parents who allow their children to get sunburnt over and over again, summer after summer after summer....

NO, not the same thing at all. But I do get what you are saying. And I do agree that it is WRONG. Myself my children both wear SPF 45 that is sport . that way it stays on. some parents are just ignorant. or do not take the time to think about it until it is to late.

Yes and ignorance is no excuse-there is a heatwave here in the uk, i've given up and am now chatting to mother's and oh! I've got some cream here if he/she needs a top up it's really good-blah blah !has worked 9 out of ten;i went to the doc's with my wife on tueday and the waiting room was full of kid's and people with facial burns etc. dispite all the warnings-i would even go so far as to make it a criminal offence-neglect!ktf.x

Some people are ignorant and should not have children. I guess I would not call it child abuse unless the parent refuses to let the child wear sun block. Some parents are like "poor baby doesn't like sun block, so I just let him do what he wants." I think one of the worst form of abuse is letting a child do what they want. It's not child abuse to spank, it is child abuse NOT to spank.
