I, personally, though that Portugal played better.
And in the end when Portugal's goalie Ricardo came out and played offense!!!?? Woah, confident or COCKY?
But.. I love Cristiano Ronaldo. He rocked that game. And what was up with France's goalie. He couldn't CATCH the ball!

But, I'd like to hear what you thought and all. =)

OMG I DEFINITELY AGREE WITH U! i was kinda shocked ricardo went to the other side of the field to help the team. and omg portugal was so close to scoring at the last minute of the extra 4 minutes! they definitely played very well and france only had the luck of that penalty kick! omg portugal wouldve advanced to the finals!

Thanks for your support. Coming from an England supporter it is really reassuring. In the end it does not matter who played better. It des not even matter which team is the better one. What mattes is what the referee and FIFA 'think'. I have seen again and again. Against France and HOlland nobody wins in a major tuornament. Portugal won against the Dutch lastweek because it was obviously written that France would have to win it this time.
I lost interest in the WC and Eurios since France and POrtugal played in Eurio 2000 and France was awarded apenalty 10 seconds before the end of the match. That is why two Ortuguese layers punched the refs face and I would have gladly done the same, the corrupt scum bag.I think that the players represented Portugal really well.

Not a shock at all. Ricardo has taken a PK before, as the GK. It just shows how incredibly talented he is. He had plenty of time to hustle back to his goal if necessary.

Portugal dominated the game for offense; France for defense. Portugal just couldn't get past them--and when they did, France wasn't allowing any time for Portugal to line up their shots. If it weren't for that foul and PK, I think it would've been 0:0 and gone into overtime. And then I think Portugal would've pulled ahead, because France was getting tired. But alas--it was not meant to be.

I also think Deco was a bit off. And Figo, though it breaks my heart to say, seemed a bit tired. My poor boys.

Both teams deserve a pat on the back. I'm sad that Portugal lost, but happy for Zidane. The mere fact that he remained in the game and a viable threat for the full 90 minutes is admirable. Great example to other players and captains (hint, hint, Beckham)

France played a more offensive game against Brazil than they did against Portugal. I LOVED France - Brazil.

France-Portugal was to be expected, both teams have a lot of yellow cards and don't want to lose the game on a stupid mistake. Both sides had some good opportunities, much more exciting game than Germany-Italy...

Christian Ronaldo was AWESOME! Such a waste that he acts so MUCH!!! He is an awesome player, he doesn't need to do that!!!

The french PK was deserved, though... It was a clear foul on Henry, the referee was right there and I saw the re-play from the right angle...

Zidane is the greatest player of all times and a great human being; he didn't have to wear a Portuguese jersey after the game...

ALLEZ LES BLEUS...

It was even the first 30 minutes , after that PK France decided to play defense the rest of the game .

Ricardo played offense cause Portugal was running out of time , that's why he ran up there trying to help cause they have a couple free kicks and corner kicks .

BTW , Barthez (france's goalie) is a good goalie , but he will get sloppy and do funny things .

They both played really well. I was going for France though. Portugal had some good opportunities that they missed and France wasn't getting the ball down the field. And France's goalie did great! He caught some balls! And Portugal was pretty desperate at the end.

After scoring the penalty (and it was a penalty, despite what the Portagees seem to think), France did what they needed to do in order to leave with a win. Had Portugal scored, I think you would have seen a few more attacks by France.

Portugal got what they deserved - concentrating more on complaining to the ref for questionable and non-existent fouls and failing to take advantage of a scary (for France) GK in Barthez. Figo should absolutely have scored on his errant header. Portugal was fortunate that several of their players were not booked for diving - including your "beautiful" Ronaldo. I will say he seems to be learning that art wonderfully from Figo.

I generally love watching Ronaldo play - his ball control is magnificent, but this WC has showcased the weaker side of his game, the diving and whining.

I think France played better. I hate Portugal after the way their players acted towards England, especially Christiano Ronaldo.

I share the same opinion, Portugal was much better in the game they played. But Bathez is one goal keeper I really respect for the talent he has and I surely believe tht he did a good job, Portugal on the other hand missed a couple of opportunites. but i think it is the referrying that needs to be talked about in this game, it sucked big time. :-(

that game was portugal's for the taking. portugal lost, not because france played a great game, but because portugal played w/o discipline and too much adrenaline. some times, i felt like they played scared out there.

richardo playing offense was just good strategy on portugal's part. he, figo, and ronaldo seemed like they were the only ones in the team who brought their game with them.

Well, it was a very big move for Ricardo but unfortunately he couldn't score a goal for his team, even though I was supporting France, Portugal did give it their best shot but they just couldn't pass the French defense.
