Wow, am I the first to answer with the old standard? My first job was as a paperboy, delivering The Buffalo Evening News (now called The Buffalo News), at the tender age of 14. I got the job the old-fashioned way, an ad in the classified section of, you guessed it, The Buffalo Evening News. I only had the job for about six months because my family moved and there were no paper routes available in my new neighbourhood.

You didn't ask (bless you, Moon, lol) but I can tell you what that first job taught me and why I look back on it with some fondness. For one thing, I learned about the handling of money. It was a fairly large route and I often carried a lot of cash on collection day, which was handled in person back then. There was also a lot of discipline involved because it is a surprisingly independent job (I rarely dealt with my route manager at all).

I also learned a great deal about dealing with people, specifically adults. Some were very nice and rather generous with tips. Others did their level best to make my life difficult by claiming they'd already paid when of course they hadn't. (Amazing how some people will try to cheat and steal even from a child.) Overall, it was a positive experience that taught me a lot about dealing with people and behaving in a courteous and professional manner (this definitely helped with tips). ;-)

I started babysitting at the age of 12, but my first "real" job, was right out of high school. I started working for a brand new fast food business in town, called Taco Town. I was 18 years old, and sooo excited to finally be making my own money!! I had to wear a little brown apron with a "taco" embroidered on it, and a little kerchief tied over my hair. I waited on customers; made food (tacos, enchiladas, cheese dip, cinnamon crisps, etc).; and cleaned after hours. I worked there for almost 3 years, before moving on to office work. I worked in a shipping office for 2 years. From there I went to a dynamite manufacturing plant (now the only such facility in North America), and worked there for 5 years. I worked harder physically at that job, then anything I had ever done, but the money was great. From there, I quit working all together and decided to go to college. After four long and sometimes difficult, but ultimately very rewarding years, I finally became a registered nurse. I only wish that I had given more thought to my career choice, as I'm not all that happy with the nursing profession. Ah well, such is life, and I only work part-time these days, so I have no right to complain. :) Sorry, you only asked about my first job, and I gave you my job history, lol. I guess I started typing away, and it all just came out.

I was 13 when I was hired to answer phones at an appliance store. My mom was the manager & they were getting busy in the repair department. The dispatcher could not keep up. So I took the incoming calls. I did not pay enough attention to the callers & would sometimes write down the wrong info. This made the technicians screw up, so eventually my mom had to fire me. Thats o.k. cause even though I liked the money, I hated working for my mom. This only lasted about 3 months.

I worked in a pickle factory for my first tax paying job when I was 18. It lasted two months. I had already planned a vacation and bought a plane ticket, and they wouldn't let me take the time off so I quit.
I didn't miss that job. After that, I got a job at a fragarance factory... which smelled considerably better.

My "real" first jobs were babysitting and lemonade stands... I did the lemonade stand with the help of my parents starting when I was about 8.

My first real paying job was working after school, mopping the floors...straighten the desks.... and clean the bathrooms..... I was about 13 at the time.....
During the Summer, we cut the grass, painted, and waxed the floors before school began....

I stayed there for about 2 years.. then went to a local grocery and started sacking grocerys......

It was at Wendy's. I just went in and filled out an application. It lasted about two months. They wanted to put me on drive through and I was too scared to do the speaker thing so I quit and went to work at McDonalds. I was 16. Let's just say my work ethic at that age left much to be desired!

McDonald's...It was about a block away from my house, so I rode my bike there. I had it for about a year, from the beginning of summer to the next, I was 15 when I first got it, it wasn't that great. I certainly learned a lot though. I haven't eaten McDonald's since.

My first job was a graphics summer internship at the Pentagon last year. I applied for it and got accepted. It was a nice experience and glad I got the opportunity.

It was a head job, at a Christmas party, I got it hard and by manipulating her, it lasted 15 minutes, and I was 13.
