Am I the only one who has found the tactics and cheating at the world cup both boring and dissapointing? There seem to have been a lot of low scoring negative games and this has got worse as the tournament has progressed.

Seems Brazil rocks has nothing interesting to say. I have no problem with people disagreeing with me. But when it becomes abusive then that just shows how intolerent they are of other peoples opinions. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Whether you agree or not is your right but do not become rude. Oh and by the way try watching a sport before you criticise others for enjoying it. I have watched most of the world cup and therefore feel I have the right to comment on it. I guess Brazil rocks has never watched a game of baseball in his life. If he had he would realise it is a really cool sport. I stick by my opinion that this world cup has been dissapointing. i have seen less diving in the Olympic pool.

I agree.

Love the Premiership, hate this World Cup.

Portugal's performance against France sums it up. How dare they get upset that they lost the game! I don't know... the group stages were good but the knock-out stages have been poor.

Actually, I got completely hooked on this years WC. What I couldn't watch live, beginning from game 1, I TiVo'd and watched most of the matces and even reports and specials (i.e. Drew Carey's specials on Travel Channel) and ... I personally find 0 to 0 games to be the most intense), depending what's on the line...

Perfect example...Take Italy vs. Germany the other day... who BTW, I do agree may play a bit rough (and some might say dirty)at times ...and it doesn't help their cause that they are amidst a serious scandal in their country's football league but in any event... they do have a very good national team none the less

Regardless, Italy did get extremely lucky against Germany on Tuesday in case you missed that one. 90 minutes regulation - 0:0, led to OT for another 30 minutes (despite the lack of goals - it was probably the most tense edge of my seat match I've ever seen between two sports teams any one goal, minute after minute, pass after pass, shot after shot, penalty kicks... all the way up to 119 minutes and any one goal destroys the hopes and dreams of one team, it's supporters, which usually involves an entire coutry plus millions more around the globe, while on the other hand, a team it), if still 0:0 would have meant penatly kicks - something which Germany excels and Italy has a serious track record of losing. Italy literally pulled off two back to back goals in the final few minutes. That being a brilliant goal in the 119th minute followed by last desperate push from Germany ...sending all thier guys up the field in an advance and leaving their backfield exposed thus the very easy second goal - The WC host team's fans and players were devestated by this as was I ~I still can't believe it honestly.

Regarding playing dirty, you must be referring to the U.S. vs Italy (no surprise there) and of course... Portugal plays dirty, they earned a record a couple of weeks ago (against Holland... aka Netherlands) - and was awarded with the most yellow cards issued in a single game by an team in any World Cup.

Okay, you say this is boring... But I think that this kind of variation among games adds a different dimension personally. I like clean tactical games as much as the next guy but I have to admit, I'm at times intrigued by the physical games also.

Remember...

Battle for 1st place is on Sunday between France and Italy (I bet France - France being led by the legendary captain Zinadine Zidane who will retire after this next game, he's our age, roughly - 34 - old for soccer. His team if pretty tight and should likely take care of Italy.

Nope, worst World Cup Finals since 1990. Not enough goals, few shots on goal, terrible fouls and too much diving, low levels of skill. But with so much press and hype and money in the game, no one really steps back and takes a critical look at the overall state of soccer.

Give me 1970...hell even 1982 over this BS.

Oh, and get rid of the stupid offsides rule. It's outdated. Open up the game.

I've said in 1 of my posts about how Teams are copy-catting the Italian's defensive style and be success, the most reason was Greese who won the Euro 2004 championship . Yes, it's boring, ugly but it is very effective . I've also said that many teams are playing with the "not to lose" format of 4-5-1 , with this format it's very hard to score or to be score agaisnt . With all that said , Italy is very effective cause they have great defense and great strikers where other countries do not have .

And yes , I'm tired of watching every player on every team acting like they got a broken leg when ever someone touch them . This kind of acting is getting out of whack .

Nop , you´re totally right
although tactics have been good fair gaming hasn´t been around in the whole cup, it´s been non exciting at least compared to prior cups and the goal counter is sinking low
Yet media has make it less noticeable thus making it more commercial attractive

World what?

Internationally scored sports, as in common Olympics, lose me after the first questionable call, which could have happened honestly, but the debates from there on are all whining or conspiracies. I don't bother.

I don't think I agree with you, I have enjoyed the world cup because it was pretty exciting for me, especially the fact that the final four didn't include Brazil, that's pretty new!

Absolutely accurate. It is a shame that so called fans of teams do not rexognize the faults of thier players and press their associations for changes PLUS ref's should be given a gun so that dives can be made really, really painful....
