the other most common best answer seems to be one straight out of a text (best? yes, but creativity and style should count.

worst example is the first real long answer getting votes cause people didn't want to read the whole thing (some real 'zingers' buried in some of these)

Hi Fact checker,

I agree with all the things you just said.

By typing that first sentence quickly and submitting it, I have saved a place at the front of the pile. You may not get other answers, but if you do then no matter how long I take to edit my answer, it will still be first on the list. That is what a slow typer should do. Get in there with a quick place-holding sentence and go back and edit your answer to include all the information you would really like to put into it. Try it.

The person who asked the question won't receive the full content of your answer by email, but everyone who reads your answer later will see it at the top of the pile.

Good luck to all of you slow typers. You could even try typing the text in your first answer of the day. Highlight it, cut it, and paste it to every post that you intend to spend time answering.

When you have finished putting all of the information into a complete post, take your time, re-read, check spelling, and submit.

I hope this isn't against any rules. It should work.

Good luck.

I agree

often, I will read a question, and there won't be any answers yet, so I write a looooonnng answer, fully explaining, and meeting all requirements to the question. The asker ends up picking like, the first answer, or if it is decided as a vote, nobody ever scrolls all the way down the page to where my answer is, so it isn't even always read.

When people try to get their 1 point for voting, they sometimes just go for the first, shortest, or funniest answer. Easiest way to make a bunch of points.

I, too, research a lot of my answers and give insightful responses and I tend to drown in the one-liners. I have been guilty of home schooling mother's practices of giving a quick answer, doing some research, and then editing my response. My answers do tend to run on the verbose side though.

yeah that is so TRUE!!

i think asker's choose the best answer by its length coz when they have to rate the best answer there's the scale of
5= informative and 1=not so informative (i can't exactly remember what 1 is). but yea.. it can influence them in some way. and when some askers choose the first answers they usually choose them coz most of the answers are the same. well at least that's what i do. if i can't choose which one's the best i put it on for voting. but don't you just hate it when only few people vote or like only 1 person votes and voted for their own answer which isn't that good..? that just suck.

They pick the first good answer if there are too many because they don't want to read a million answers.
