ipod, ipod, ipod. The ipod is the best choice. They may be expensive, but they pay off. If you use it in a gym, you might want to consider a shuffle. The shuffle is small and the least expensive, plus you can purchase armbands that secure it around your arm. The nano has the lanyard headphones option- the nano plugs into a lanyard which wrapps around your neck and connects to headphones. If you want a video, you should get one, because theyre awesome. The gym might not be its best environment though. So think about what kind of music (and/or video) experience you want, and choose your ipod accordingly. Ipods will always surpass their mp3 apponents!

Here is a link to learn more about the lanyard headphones for the nano-

here is a link to learn more about the armbands for the shuffle-http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/5.RSLID?mco=57C0C9F4&nplm=M9981G%2FA

There are armbands available for nano as well.

One last link: a very protective case for the video-http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/1234001/wo/HWSuHaq7GGkn2FYlqaEeZsOJNtG/7.0.19.1.0.8.25.7.11.0.3

and in general, any ipod information can (obviously) be found off of www.apple.com

hope i helped! good luck in choosing your music player!

If you use it for the gym, neither is a good choice.

The problem is that the iPod video 30GB and the Creative Zen Vision M have internal hard drives and a shock to the player can cause damage as the read write head slams into the hard drive platter. (See the picture in the Wikipedia article below).

If you plan on doing workouts while listening to the player, it would be better to get a flash memory based player such as the Creative Zen V or Zen V plus. This way there are no moving parts suceptible to shock. Creative even has an optional arm band for the player.

If you weren't going to the gym, I'd recommend the Creative Zen Vision M because it is better than an iPod for the following reasons:

Better color display (262,000 colors versus 65,000 on iPod).
Has longer battery life for video (4 hours for ZVM vs 2 hours on iPod 30GB).
Works with subscription music services such as Yahoo Music Unlimited To Go, Rhapsody To Go, and Napster To Go which can save you a ton of money renting music versus buying it. (iPod doesn't)
Zen has a built-in FM tuner.

Zen has an FM radio much better screen quality and its NOT an Ipod If you look at the specs and compare, you'll see that the Vision is much better than the Ipod The Zen also has a much better battery life Ipod video viewing is only like 2 hour the Zen has a four hour battery life for videos

creative zen!! they are VERY strong, perfect for a gym because they might get banged around a lot. i'm a total klutz and my zen hasn't broken yet. iPod screens scratch up too easily.

i own one. everyone buys an iPod cause they think it's cool and because everyone else has one. do your research and pick whichever product you like best.

also creative's coming out with a new one, it plays video, pics, music, but it's not available in the US, Europe, or Asia yet.
