What is going on here? Superman was an still is an American idea, a message all Americans were proud to hear and see. With the old Superman TV series, we would see Superman standing proudly next to a waving American flag. Now they have taken that away from us as well? It must be for making money, to make a movie for other markets in the whole world. Who could the movie industry be afraid of offending? This is nuts, North Korea isn't afraid of offending the US, why are they so afraid? This country was always proud to say made in America, tell me the last time you found something that says that? I know that I"m mad as hell about it, and if you think that all proud Americans should feel the same way, we need to write letters to the Editor of your local newspaper, and maybe think about going to see another movie. Someone is trying to send Ameicans a message, Americans need to send a message right back, and that is we are mad as hell, and were not going to take it anymore, and mean it.

Some of you have said "It's just a Movie" but you are missing the point. Proud Americans are proud of everything this counrty used to hold, and one of you said "sad but that's the way it is". If you are proud Americans where is your pride if you can take it that easy? I think only people from other countries would have that attudude, where it didn't make any difference to them, but to a proud American it certainly would.
This bothered some proud Americans I know, (But then again they are older Americans) if you are one, let's hear from you!

Spider Man movie did more for U.S. then superman even Batman Begins was better then Superman Returns ......
when they made superman idea was fresh a hero that wouldnt
get reckonition and choose to hide identity .. now that the war is goin on only hero that makes sense on our times are our soldiers
maybe if they had thought this out and used it in the movie it wouldve turned out better .... actually fighting criminals like our soldiers would do kill and try not to get killed
Superman returns was ... good but couldhave been lot better with fans anticipating its release

Yeah I always did see Superman as being an American Hero. Just so you know, the original ideas were not behind the making of the movie otherwise it could have been different, much more patriotic as it could be said. Im sure they didn't mean any disrespect or anything of the matter. Though it would have been more traditional to have him stand up for Truth, Justice, and the American way. But hey you have to make the dialogue realistic, the chief is interested in his newspaper, and he wanted to make a point.

I'm proud to be an American. But we lost the "American way" that Superman speaks of a long time ago. The ideals that we stood up for when Superman was popular have erroded. It's sad but if we completed the phrase now, it would be 'Truth, justice, and frivolous law suits, being easily offended, low morals, and going to the highest bidders."

We need to rebuild ourselves so that being American is something to be proud of at all times. Freedom is not permissiveness.

At first I was then you have to think about it he was an American creation, but actually he is the protector of the world (as portayed in the comics and the movie)so no not really I just think we were used to the catch phrase. People dont' like change Just one more thought I think the creators would be proud that all the people of the world knows who their creation is and what he stands for.

They can not write what they do not believe. I doubt you can find a handful of Hollywood's finest that believe in the American Way much less truth. It was a movie but a redone movie that as children my family believed in his ideals. I hated to see them make him smirk too.

No, it's just some modern humor and besides that, it precludes the condition of the movie being a sequel and NOT a remake.

We are a more global community now, and our media reflects that. Superman is not just america's hero, he is the world's hero.
