All trucks (1/2 ton 3/4 ton and 1 ton ) use truck axle's and you can carry up to a 1/2 ton worth of stuff so there is more purpose for a 1/2 ton truck than carrying groceries ( pulling boats, trailers with cars on them etc.) The 3/4 ton and 1 ton are for carrying heavier weights more often like on a daily basis

Yes, half ton trucks are made for caring up to a half ton of groceries regardless of which axel (or axle) they come with. They are also made for carrying up to a half ton of groceries, and I suspect that's what most of them are used for, and that only the minority are used at construction sites or for heavy hauling.

I think you can carry just about anything want in them. Now, if you you tried carrying groceries in a 3/4 ton, well that is all together a different story.

why, do you have one and need to know? you can carry just about anything you want as long as it doesnt exceed the weight limit on your bed
