its not a big deal if he did. this is like most soccer player's dream and they missed it. its like their whole world just crashed. and i think if ur only a game away from getting into the finals u would cry too because of disappointing. for portugal and germany as well, being the world cup champions is so close yet so far. they only had to surpass that game and they get into the championships. when u get into that point of the game then u suddenly lose, u'll think that i was an inch away from it! and it has a lot more impact! if u lose on the group matches u wouldnt care as much bcoz u know u're not there yet. not like the portuguese who has gotten this far and suddenly they're out. its simple like that. its like ur getting close to ur dream but then something like this happens and u realize that its all over. i feel really bad for portugal and germany although i think italy and france deserve where they are now. but i still do think that all four teams are exceptionally good and have played really well.
this is part of cristiano ronaldo's dream and now its shattered. i think its normal to shed some tears and show ur emotion after all this is the greatest tournament on earth and they were so close to winning it!
PORTUGAL ALL THE WAAAAAAAY!!!!

You have to realize that the World Cup is the biggest thing ever for a soccer player. It's bigger than any league or cup championship, it's bigger than the Olympics, it is quite possibly one of the biggest and most important sporting events in the world. After you've worked so hard for four years or more to get your team to the finals it can be heartbreaking for these athletes to lose.
And before the soccer haters start crying that all soccer players are pansies, American footballers, baseball players, basketball players, etc. are well known for crying when they lose the championship game.

yes. ...and rightfully so... ronaldo brought his game and portugal played like they hadn't reached the finals since 1966. they played w/ too much adrenaline - not enough patience - and played an offensive game (ronaldo was the only player that was penetrating from the middle) that wasn't working for most of the game. the switch in tactics came too late into the game.
ronaldo knew the game against france was for portugal's taking. portugal beat themselves out there, france played so-so.
france deserves to go to the finals against italia.
