It's getting really out of hand.

I have the feeling your friend was completely kidding. How could anyone have a beaver fixation when everyone knows kittens are the secret to true long lasting happiness. I have to believe your friend had Y!A block and was simply using some past experience. In fact if this is the friend I am thinking of the one beaver mention was more about writing poetry and less about a specific beaver. You should talk to this friend if you are concerned for their safety and well-being.

alternate answer:

kick him in the teeth!

Well, now, aren't we getting a little hot under the collar? I suppose you're not talking about your woodchuck friend chucking his wood? Very well. It really depends on if it's him or you that has the problem. If the beaver likes the fixation, then why the complaint? Granted, if he is petting the beaver too heavily and the beaver complains and he doesn't stop, then he has a serious issue that risks arrest, but if they are consenting partners, then maybe you ought to just recommend that they get a hotel room instead. Now if it's your roomie though, I can see how that could get annoying...

Good luck!

Beaver fixation? The question is kind of vague, but if he has a fixation with anything, he will probably grow out of it eventually.

it may be against the law in your state to get him his own beaver so he can take care of it.
and I bet once he has one to take care of he will get tired of it very fast.
he does not realize all the work it is to keep a beaver in proper working order..or in good health..
once he has that beaver in his hands and he has all that work ahead of him, and I bet a week later he will want to give the beaver back..he will not even want to hear about one for a long long time after that..
so see if you can get him one to hold on to..and take care of..make him responsible for a beaver for a week and lets see.

good luck

Out of hand? Is that like the old saying "A bush in the hand is worth 2 in the....bird's... somethin...." nevermind.
It'll take some doin but if you can find one that's infected, you could sport it his way. Once his winky shrivels up, turns green, and starts getting caught in his zipper more frequently, the likelihood of his ongoing fixation will begin to dissipate.

Get him a pet rock. A big orange one. It will take his mind of the beaver, even if it is a big orange one. But make sure to give him a healthy pet rock. Last thing you want is for him to have a lot of bills from the geologist, especially if the rock stops eating its kibble.

Take him down to the nearest place that has beavers and let him play with them. He will soon tire of building dams.
