there are a few drawbacks 1 if the power goes out and u have cable say goodbye (not nesseseraly true if u have dsl thene u need a battery backup and your good) 2 depending where u live how rliable is your service if your internet drops out so does your phone 3 look for hidden fees and taxes. besides for that your good to go

In our area, a somewhat rural area, cable service goes down a couple of times each month. The POTS? Never! So we keep a simple land line and use VoIP for long distance, or our cell phones.

it changes the habit of the user, from the old preservative minimalist use, to the never feel to get enough bandwidth.
