watch for swelling. a few years back, my wife burned her forehead so badly that her skin swelled, nearly shutting her eyes. she ended up going to the doctor, where the prescribed a low dose of steroids to bring the swelling down.
don't do the hot shower thing. that is the single worst piece of advice i've seen in response to your question. all else seems sound. a sunburn is like any other burn. keep the skin cool and moist, and take an over-the-counter pain reliever.

Put lots of Aloe Vera (Try Banana Boat after sun lotion) its the best. Make sure you stay out of the sun until your skin does not burn or itch. Apply aloe vera lotion 8-10 times per day.....because your skin is dehydrated and needs all the moisture possible to heal up.
You can also try the pulp from fresh aloe vera that you can get an any hspanic store. So you are basically buying the fresh plant, you open it up and apply the thick slimy substance onto your skin. IT IS THE MOST REFRESHING FEELING EVER!!

So sorry- I've had that happen to me, too. Put a very generous amount of Noxema that you have chilled on your burn or Nivea cream- these will cool the skin while also moisturizing it. Reapply as often as you can to refresh yourself.
Take Tylenol or Advil for the pain. If it is VERY,VERY bad, seek medical attention.
Good luck...I know it hurts so badly.

Aloe vera helps to soothe irritated skin. Take some tylenol for the headache and hotflashes, if they occur.

I have tried many things in the past, even read somewhere that mustard works, it did nothing but make me look and smell like a giant hot dog, lol, but the best thing you can do is use aloe if you can find it with lidocaine in it it's even better, and definitly put it in the fridge before you use it. Hope this helps...

Cure? No-- none but time. However, you can get temporary relief for dowsing it with vinegar. Sun block's not something I ever forget. It doesn't take that feeling too many times to learn the lesson. Not to mention-- it's dangerous. It's skin damage. Can't believe anyone does it on purpose.
