Could I make it into an FTP server (easily)? I'd like to use Linux. I already have a domain name that I could use for this if its needed. Its a Pentium 3/128 MB RAM/20GB HDD/got a network card

Go linux. There are tons of sites out there showing how you can run all free linux software on older machines.

You could make it an FTP Server, Web server, database server, media server etc..

you could easily make it a nice Linux server just download a ISO image for a platform designed for servers and burn it to a cd then install it

I was reading in the LA times where people are still using their Commodore 64s to surf the net. You could. You could also turn it into a juke box.

Buy another cheap network card and make it into a firewall. IPcop is an easy to install and configure one.
