Palms Thai is definitely the most fun if you go on the weekend (a singing Thai Elvis - who can resist?) but if you ask me about food, I'd say Ruen Pair probably.

its called sweet garlic, its in old town monrovia.(5 minutes east of pasadena) if you go be sure to try the apple salad. delicious!!
