The best place I've ever been to would without a doubt be Saco, Old Orchard Beach, and Camp Ellis, Maine.
This is a strip of beach along the southern coast of Maine. Walking the beach at low tide, strolling down to Camp Ellis, grabbing a six of cold ones, a stack of famous onion rings from the take-out, and walking all the way to the end of the jetty at the end of the saco river where it dumps into the ocean. It is so peaceful there, and when I am sad, or depressed, I go there in my mind.

My pick is Washington State as a whole. As such, the state has it all: mountains, beach, forest, farms, snow, rain, sun; Seattle is my favorite city by far, very friendly for the most part and full of culture. And, you're only a few hours from Canada or a couple day's drive from Cali...the best :)

Well, I live in So-Cal... and other than overpopulation that is happening... it's great out here. I'd have to say the the coolest place I've been in the States so far was Boston during the 4th of July!!! That was one huge party and everyone (even the cops) were so ridiculously nice.
