She calls it God Help America. There are lines in there about how the world hates us and we are bullies. She also called our servicemen rapists. So much for being innocent until proven guilty.

Cindy Sheehan is a sincere woman, whose loss has caused her to drastically rethink her geo-political views, and inspired her to try to make some greater meaning for her son's death. While I don't agree with all of her tactics or words, I think her sincerity is rather obvious to anyone who sees and reads what she actually says instead of getting the Rush Limbaugh filtered version.

Edited to add:

Do have any source for what she is alleged to have said in this version of GBA? I'm curious as to whether it's really as you suggest, or whether this has been exaggerated (of course the media would never exaggerate...) to boost ratings, sell newspapers, or inflame passions. I googled on the subject and couldn't find any first hand accounts of her alterations of the lyrics.

Cindy Shehan makes me sick.I'am not for the war in Iraq,
But if we pull our troupes out now then her son will have died in vain as well as all of the troupes we have lost
Only a stupid idiot like her would try to change the words to God bless AMERICA THE TRASH SHE IS SAYING ABOUT MY COUNTRY pisses me off I don't give a damn what she has to say about George W. Bush.

Not me. She has a right to protest however she wishes. And she has a right to grieve for her lost son.

If this song has special meaning for you, that's great. Sing it loudly and clearly to anyone who cares to listen. I'm sure that those who don't want to hear it will ignore you, which is what I suggest that you do in Ms. Shehan's case.

Who cares... It's just an Irving Berlin song (Thats right....it wasn't written by the "founding fathers" at the time of the Revolution).

Wonder if 50 years from now people will consider the re-wording of Michael Jackson songs "sickening"?

"Weird Al" does it all the time.

She's one of the biggest, most bizarre human beings on the face of the earth and I think it's sad, really, that she's being exploited by those liberals when it's so obvious she's not well. Her ex says this and so did her son before he died. She's already been to see the President, which is more than I can say for most people. She needs therapy.

She is one messed up woman. Yeah these kind of comments make me sick. She is anti American and anti patriotic. Yeah she has a right to say what she wants to and I have a right to say she is wrong! Makes me wonder what her son would have thought about her stance had he lived! She can leave and go to a place she loves whenever she pleases. I don't know who will really miss her and her antics. She obviously does not love America!

Yes its very sad; but I hope she sings them again and again. ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, MSNBC, and even Yahoo News will make it available on a routine basis and the middle America in the political spectrum will continue to edge to the right. Thank you Cindy.

No. Her son went to the army to protect us, not to start a war with people who didn't want to fight us. Bush has brainwashed most of you. Cindy can grieve the loss of her son. I'm sure you will be mad too if he was your child.

No.

She gave her son life and he died in Iraq.

So did other parents, and as far as I'm concerned, it gives each and every parent of a fallen soldier a forum to exercise the right of free speech their child died for.
