start off with earth tones and then expand
the best thing is to experiment and figure out what colors work best with who you are, where you're going, what you're doing, what you're wearing and what you look like.
be creative and have fun

Go 2 Merle Norman, or any large department store they will b glad to help u. Nobody will b able to tell ya what color just by describing and if they do-it's sorta like the blind leading the blind.
They're also alot of Make-up consultants Re: Jafra, Mary Kay, etc. any of them will b glad to help ya. I would not use any of the cheap stuff generally it looks terrible and is bad for ur skin. U can get a free make over from all the leading make-up companies and make like Jafra, Mary Kay, etc. Try more than one b4 making a decision.
Good Luck

I would probably say a light pink might look good. Like a peach or salmon colour. That would be for the lips. You might want to use a foundation to even your skin tones out. It will make it look like your face is all one skin tone which makes it much easier to apply make-up. For your eye shadow use a light colour as well. I think you will be very pleased with the benefactor.

First, get on a good skin care regimne. Then, visit a good department store and check out their MAC counter. Tell the make up artist what you want. Once he/she gives you the look you want, get the products you want to duplicate it. Get the MAC if you can afford their crazy prices or visit your local drug store if you want to pay less. Yes, you can get a similar look and pay less.

Well if it is your first time, start with natural colors. The trick is to make it look like you are naturally gorgeous!!

A neutral colour for your eyes like a purple-tan sorta colour. And for lips just use clear lip gloss or one that is slightly coloured.
