What I know is that in the mayan calendar the year 2012 marks the end of the 5th age and the beginning of the 6th, or so some scientists believe. I wouldn't place any bets on that as our own calendar has many holes itself and scientists make mistakes. I don't know what the mayans expected their 6th age to be either. As far as I can see there's no reason to prepare for the end of the world, no more than always.

ok well 1. its not the next 'y2k' . y2k (the first one) wasnt even based on anything except a rumor people started. 2. the year 2012 was predicted by the myans to be the 'end of the world'. According to research (as far as weve founf) everything the myans predicted came true, to a certain extent. Some people take that in a mass-hysteria way and start freaking out over something people who were vanquished 100s of years ago predicted. Others think of it as a clever way to scare the 'future' people (us) you choose, i personally am not going to worry about it

Mayan calender- they knew they wouldn't last nearly this long so they stopped adding
end of the world-people have been predicting the end of the world for thousands of years only to be embarrassed the next day
worst sun radiation expected-only for a few years wear your sunblock expect north to become south as the poles shift

If you are superstitious it was predicted by nostradamus as the end of a tumultuous period to take place between 2006 and 2012. nuclear war and such. Current events are supposed to be the start of something much much worse> This is just what I heard in rumors so take it for what it is worth. Personally I dont really believe it

The people that sold all the books about how the world was screwed on 6-6-06 have to have something new to make millions off the sheeplets.

Just like Y2K, a bunch of silliness. One of life's realities is there are quite a number of people who need to get a life.

2012 --> 20 12
20-2=18= 6+6+6 12= 2 x6 = 6+6

3x6-2x6 + 6
