Hi. I have been searching for a while for a good laptop at a reasonable price. I came across a company on ebay http://www.york-corp.4-all.org/ and wondered if anyone knew about them?. They are offering laptops etc at almost half price - always too good to be true! I emailed asking why and the company said it's because they don't add taxes, send the item from USA to Nigeria where it is sent on to the buyer classed as a gift. Is this fraud or a genuine company?. Thanks !

Dont buy online. Its better to examine in a local electronic shop like best buy or office depot before buying. Their is more guarantee that they will work. As for the site you indicated it is probably a scam.

If you do not check a company before entering into a transaction, you could lose your money, time and credibility. Some widely used resources are the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org) and the national fraud center ( www.fraud.org) These days, you can easily find out more about a company using the internet in a few minutes. From a company's website, you can details about its ownership, how old the company really is and feedback from the company's customers.

To Good To Be True....Probably Is.
If you buy a laptop online and all goes well as expected, you receive your laptop only to find out something is wrong with it. What do you do ? One answer - send it back (if they have return option) otherwise, you are Stuck with it. If you can return it, you are faced with paying transportation costs to and from. Could add up to quite a bit of money. Better to watch the ads and buy one from a Computer Retailer, i.e. Circuit City, Best Buy, Office Depot, etc. That way, if the computer malfunctions, you can take it back where you bought it - no transportation costs involved. Also, you get full manufacturers warranty and can purchase extended warranty.

laptop computers can be a rather tricky buy at times, I would suggest that you look out for the cheapest and yet latest desktop on the market,

the best way to do this is on what they call warehouse sale markets some of them are online.

these warehouse owners have a service where they sell laptop computers to normal customers like you and me, however with very reduced prices due to the fact that they do not have as much costs as normal shops do, such as rent and a employees etc. as you know most online shops have rather competitive prices sometimes cutting the laptop price to a half.

one such website for laptop computers warehouse with great sales all year around is :

The events that you describe make this outfit smell as foul as fish rotting for days. Their 'justification' is an almost sure give away that it is a fraud. Further. when I tried to access the link provided by you my firewall (Proventia) blocked it as belonging to 'Computer Crime / Hacking' So I guess you should stay away fron them or their 'offer'.
