Yes, if you look back, we lost alot of knowledge in society for a couple thousand years! They harnessed solar power, but had no way of storing or directing it. So it blew up and has since sunk.
One day soon we'll find it, and know just how advanced they really were!

Yes, I believe that Atlantis existed.

Edgar Cayce (died in the 60's and was touted to be the modern Notrodamus) prophosized a lot on Atlantis. He believed that Atlantis was a modern society that was stuck down by either god or some other force and that the survivors split into two groups. One group went to the Yucatan peninsula and the other to Egypt. This would explain that technocological advancement in Egypt which so far have no other real explainations. He also wrote that the people of Atlantis were the keeps of the Akashic records and they split the records in half and half are hidden in the Yucatan and the other half are under the left foot of the Sphinx in Egypt. Recent scans of the Sphinx indictes there is a hallow chamber but the Egyptian government won't let anyone dig there. Conspiracy theories anyone?

There was an island in the Mediterranian which had a supervolcano which blew up about 100 years before the Greeks wrote about Atlantis. It was a Minoan culture, which was a very peaceful, artistic culture, and it had a port much like the Greeks described. It is believed to have controlled a large part of trade in the area, but because of its plenty, not because it was warlike. This may be the basis for the myths of Atlantis that we have now.

Like most myths and legends there is little doubt that there was a place that the Atlantis stories were based on.

There are already many supposed candidates for the existence of Atlantis... and even if none of these really "pan out." I tend to go with the adage, "Where there's smoke, there's (probably) fire." I put the odds to be at least 80% that there was such a place.

Across the world there have been many tales of a great city that was swallowed by the sea. The Aztecs, The Mayans, and many others have had tales of this city. In many, many places there are stories about this city. I believe that there have been too many references for it not to be real. Also, in every folk legend there is truth behind it soooo something must be true and it is hard to believe that after many cultures have referred to it that it doesn't exist.
