I'm not afraid of death but I am afraid of how I may die. I am scared of dying in some horrible way or my children having to watch me die. Personal experience... When I had my daughter I had many heart complications from the pregnancy and shortly after we got home with her I was rushed back to the hospital with chest pains. I kept crying and everyone kept thinking it was from the pain. I finally told them I didn't want my daughter growing up thinking it was her fault I was dead and that was what I was crying about. I made them all promise that if anything happened she was not to know how the problems started. Obviously everything turned out okay. Sorry for rambling I realize I went way past what you asked but was trying to make my point understood.

Truly, I don't think that I am afraid of death.
I was watching a movie earlier and the main father's father was I guess, just plain getting old and had to live in one of those care-taking places.
He couldn't really take it anymore; the fact that he wasn't dieing and wanting everything to do so.
This would be horrible for me and it just /really/ doesn't scare me, the fact that it doesn't hurt at all.
Sure you become non-existent, but it's good to know that your in someone else's heart and they will care for you no matter what.
Even if you have no family, someone else from around is reading the papers and taking you into consideration.
Maybe you'll make world news, maybe you'll be doing something good for the world.
It all comes hand in hand.

I'm not afraid of death most of the time, probably because I'm not faced with death enough.

I'm afraid of pain, illness, suffering, not being able to take care of myself. And I don't want to leave my family behind.
Death in itself ...I'm curious what is in the "other world"! But I'm afraid of paying the price. I would like to go there and come back.

I'm afraid of dying a failure, more than death itself.

No. It's like being afraid of Thursday. It's coming. Whether you like it or not.
