My parents always did this and I think it's fun. When I turned 16, I got $16 dollars from everyone. Some people wrote a check for $16, one friend made me open a bunch of individually wrapped boxes to find a total of 16- $1 bills. One friend gave me $16 in pennies (hooker!). My favorite though, my mom unravelled a roll of toilet paper and then rolled it back up with 16- $1 bills so that I had to unroll the toilet paper to get it out. $16 isn't a lot of money (you'd probably spend more on a gift) but it's funny to see how creative people can be with their delivery. Depending on how many people you have at the party, the birthday girl could make off like a bandit.

well, it depends on when her birthday is, because you need time to plan. I'm 14 and turning 15 this year, and my family isn't super rich, we're an average family. But I told my mom and dad that for my 16th birthday I wanted a disney cruise. And I'm not selfish or anything, because my mom and dad said I could either have a car or a cruise. I went on one when I was 10 and I loved it but can't remember much of it because I was so young. It just depends on how big you wanna go. Good luck!

Sixteen? Hee Hee, have fun! Easy fix for all teenage girls, it's always fun to have a traditional birthday party with you girl, but since she IS turning 16, I would suggest a subtle family party in the morning or early afternoon, and for the evening, reserve a hotel suite, grab some pizza and a limited number of her girlfriends, and let her do the rest! She could have a blast, no boys though!! ;)

I have a really cute idea that one of my friend's father did for her on her 16th birthday... i think it will work even if you are her mom. My friend's dad brought her out on a date for her birthday: picked her up at the door, brought her flowers, took her out to dinner at the restaurant of her choice and told her they were just going to talk about her the whole night (what's going on in her life, how school is going, friends, etc.) and at the end of the night he told her, "That is how a guy should treat you on a date, don't settle for anything less. He should be a perfect gentleman, because you deserve the best." I thought it was very sweet!

Maybe asking her what she would like to do. A car as a gift is always a plus lol. When I was 16 I wanted to go hang out with my friends and not be around my family. so I compromised and had a family party then had a friend party.

Rent a moon-walk. Thats what we did for a cousin. It was a blast. Dont make it too extravagant. Invite all her friends over. If that doesnt sound ok with you, ask her.
