Yes it does hurt, but there are ways to make it tolerable, breathing techniques, numbing medication, etc. There is nothing to compare it to, but remember that the pain has never stopped our need to reproduce, so don't be scared, or worried about something that your body can handle once your mature enough for pregnancy.

Yes. It hurts very badly. A woman's body is built to deal with this specific pain, however, so don't let that scare you. I suppose you can compare it to bad cramps if you multiply the pain from your worst cramp by 100 and make it happen at three minute intervals for 60 to 90 seconds at a time. The reason you cramp during a period is to help expel the built up blood from the past month. Now imagine having cramps (contractions) that have to expel nine months worth of buildup, an eight pound baby, and a placenta. They are much more intense. Also, you have to push the baby out and that adds to the pain.
Honestly, with all the back pain, abdominal pain, uterine pain, perineal pain, and other fun types of pregnancy and birth pains, there is really nothing that comes even close to the feeling of giving birth.
And I'll tell you, every bit of it is worth it.

YES having a baby does hurt and there is nothing to compare it too. Some women also experience more pain then others and some women are better prepaired to deal with the pain. Labor pain unlike all other pain is a good pain as it is a sign that things are going well and that baby is ready to join the outside world all other pain in life is a sign that something is wrong. Also there are "coping techniques" that can be used to help women deal with labor pain in a natural way. I believe that many women are not prepaired well enough for labor and depend far to much on drugs to relieve pain which can be a risk to the baby. Babys can be born without drugs my daughter is proof of this. Also once baby is born the pain is not forgotten but it is definately worth it when you have your bundle of joy to cuddle and enjoy.

I have had 3 kids and one miscarriage. I had my first at 15! It is horrible if you are not old enough or ready. Labor hurts yes, alot, but the worse is yet to come. Being a mom at 15 (then having my second at 16) is the hardest thing I have ever done. I would agree with everyone and tell you from personal experience, WAIT make sure you are with the man you want to spend the rest of your life with cause raising a baby on your own specially when you are a baby yourself is horrible..Do not get me wrong I love all my kids more than life itself, but when you think back there is a part of you that really hates the fact that you missed out on the teenage years......

Some people are just rude! Anyway to answer you question. Have you ever had gas pains? Maybe not, but if you have, multiple it by about 50 and that's what a contration feels like. I always thought that the baby actually coming out of you vagina would be the part that hurts, but the contracts are way worse.
But it is all totally worth it, if you like kids. And in a couple of years, you'll forget how bad it hurt.

I just had a baby 3 months ago and the pain you feel is not really one you can compare to anything else, but bad cramps times 1000 is really close but hey its worth it.

no it doesn't hurt one bit, the kid just walks out whistling and asks for a bottle of milk.
just kidding.
Of course it hurts. try this: open your mouth, make a fist, and try to put your fist in your mouth... not too pleasant is it.
Ok, now imagine that your fist was as big as your head.
The good thing is that nowadays, they can give you anesthesia for the pain and it does make a big difference.
Also, it's hardest with the first baby, if you have more than one, it usually gets easier. My sister has 4 kids and the last one was born very quickly. Not totally painlessly, but a whole lot easier than the first one.

Yeah it hurts pretty bad if you have a hard pregnancy. There are many drugs and methods these days that alleviate the pain. I had a c-section so was pretty easy...I heal very well from anything so it was to my advantage...everyone is different and has different deliveries...you will discover when you have one...don't rush though! Be a kid!
