My best friend has an alcoholic boyfriend he is 31 yrs old and has 3 other kids with other women not including the one he has with her and she is 24 yrs old and his oldest is 15 yrs old. She loves him alot and doesn't want to leave him, however she doesn't think she has the strength to continue sitting by while he does nothing to help himself and his situation. What do I do because I dont want to see her hurt or her kids.

Find the nearest Al-Anon group and suggest that your friend attend. If she chooses to stay with this man, she is going to need support to deal with the alcoholism. Also see if you can't get her to attend some therapy. Make sure she understands that the point of this is to have someone professional listen to her and ask the "right" questions to help her figure out what's going on for her. Therapy isn't about being crazy.
She's in a tough situation. As her friend, you're priority is her well-being, but all you really can do is offer an ear, assistance if she asks, and lots of love and support. And be honest with her if/when she asks your opinion. Even if it's a hard truth, you can speak to her gently.
And needless to say, if he hurts her, have her call the police. If he hurts the children, call your local CPS (Child Protective Services) immediately.

OMG. Alcoholism is an illness and there is no easy cure. The desire to get better has to come from the individual suffering from the affliction. And yes! AA is the place to start. And you need a good recovered alcoholic mentor to guard you and guide you through the process.
As for what you can do to help your friend, I think I cannot add anything useful to the answer of the ChurchMusicLady. Not certain if I got that name right.
