Why did Wayne Rooney get mad at Cristiano Ronaldo?

They are team mates in England, yet Ronaldo suggested to the referee that Rooney should be given his second yellow which resulted in him being sent off.

Ronaldo was then seen winking at his team mates on the bench which was taken, by English fans at least, as an indication that he had intended to get Rooney sent off.

I am guessing Ronaldo won't be too welcome back in Manchester!
