Get a fertillizer that lists camellias on the package as "recommended for". I switched fertillizer last year after my pathetic camellia didn't grow for the last 5 years. It was a little stick and the blooms would appear as buds and then turn brown and die. My neighbor's plant on the other hand thrived during the same time period and was a prolific bloomer. She said she uses a generic fertillizer that has more acid and is recommended for the camellia plant. I switched and the plant is finally filling out and there are actually flowers this year. Worked for me!

It need to be grown in acid compost or soil, if it isn't then you need to water it with a chelating compound, you can get that from a garden centre, and mulch it with an ericaceous compost.
