She has to maintain her popularity, even though she is "Ms. Popular" where would you be without your friends. When she and Ken are going through a rift - she's got to have her homegirls to rely on.

To teach little girls that popularity must be bought. It also enforces the ideals that the accessories are more important than the girl in them. Barbie is absolutely no fun without the boyfriend, house, and car.

What a weird question, to make lots of money for mattel. Plus a girl is only as good as her friends, or something. Barbie is 40yrs old but she's still looking good, why is this? I reckon she had botox her forehead is very stiff, with no lines at all.

Well Barbie also gets everything....A limo, A hot guy, Cute clothes and she can get rid of kids and get new ones........
So she likes to buy her friends so that way when they start to annoy her its no problem...she can just buy another one.
