If there are then perhaps they are at the same state of technology that we are and are not yet able to determine if there are other civilized planets, or how to contact them. Or perhaps they look down their ugly green noses at us with ddigust and keep their distance. Man i HATE snobby aliens, we should kill them.

They did try to contact us and the US military shot them down.
See? You weren't paying attention close enough.

No sane civilization comes anywehere near one like ours, we are ethnocentric, and xenophobic warmongering pack psychology apes
who can't even stop warring on our own planet, let alone go out into
space.

The answer to the big science question of why they don't contact us?
Disgust. Pure and simple. Would you go hang out with a batch of cannabalistic Apes? What would you have to say to a species
that can't even solve the poverty problem, has republican fascist
agendas wreaking illegal wars in other countries, and is slowly burning out their atmosphere with poisionous chemicals? What do you say to beings that are that unruly and stupid and self centered and just plain dangerous?

This isn't a science fiction universe. Nuclear bombs would be plenty effective against anybodies space ships, even if they were
super-advanced.

The USA government has bullied the aliens into complicit silence
in order to compete with them.
Who knows whether the ones that tried to contact us were good or bad? I don't. Whats most important is that there are sentient
beings out there other than just us. Just mere probability makes this inevitable. Random chance and chemistry means that in our galaxy there are probably thousands of planets where life evolved. Even if there is no other sentient civilization native to our galaxy, the universe is very vast; there is almost with certainty
other planets with life within our universe.

In all the habitable planets in the Universe, I'm sure there's at least one civilization out there. How could we be so vain as to think we are the only beings? Why haven't they contacted us? Perhaps they are not as technologically advanced enough, like us, or perhaps they think we are too simple to bother with.

This is going to sound really geeky but on Star Trek, they have this thing called the "Prime Directive" One of the reasons they have this rule of non-interference is b/c of how a less advanced race would react if they suddenly found out that there is other life in space and they are more advanced then they themselves are and are now in orbit of their home. It would/could throw the entire planet into chaos. Maybe any advanced alien race who knows we exist, knows how we (Humans) would react if we knew they were there.

One of the best lines in the movie Men in back was this:
Jay: Why the big secret? People are smart, they can handle it.
Kay: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it.

first of all, how do u know they don-t contact?
To your first question, i guess not. Compared to the time Universe has been around, we, the human being, lived less than a second, much more less than that. So, what are the chances, two civilization co-exists, when they existed so "little" time?

I believe there are. I mean to assume we are the only beings in the entire universe sounds really conceited to me. I think they don't contact us for one of two reasons. 1. they think we aren't advanced enough and would panic and try to kill them if they did make contact (look at all the movies where we did just that) or 2. they think we're not advanced enough to have contact because we can't even be smart enough not to kill our own species, maybe their afraid our stupidty, hate, anger, and fear will spread out into the galaxy and 'infect' other races.

i believe there are highly civilized and intelegent beings on other planets. perhaps they have not contacted us is for one of two reasons. 1) they have, and in our paranoya we did not understand what the were saying. or 2) we have not evolved enough as a civilization to warrent contact.
