I agree. A Child called It is a story about a child horribly mistreated...very sad, but makes you think very hard.

Well, baby love, reading IS fundamental(sorry, had to throw that one in!). Here are some of my favorite books:

The Color Purple by Alice Walker
The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin
Native Son by Richard Wright
The Last Precinct by Patricia Cornwell

or...
if you like the other stuff, try book by Mary Higgins Clark, Danielle Steele, or John Grisham.

Happy reading!

Some good writers are V.C. Andrews, Mary Higgins Clark, Beverly Lewis, James Patterson, Some books I have read that I liked were The Other Boleyn Girl, Marley and Me, Rose Madder, Every Move She Makes, Memoirs of a Geisha, It really all depends on what your taste is when it comes to reading. Do you like murder, mystery, romance, I love to read so I read anything.

Any Tom Robbins, Farenheit 451, any of the Harry Potter books, any of John Irving books, I personally like A prayer for Owen Meany. Good luck.

Lucky, it's pretty graphic but it's damn good. And, A Child Called It, I am slow reader but finished both of those quite quickly.

For a lighter read, the Harry Potter books are great for slow readers!
