Don't be shocked.
What we have on our hands is a full generation of people who are happy to do a sloppy job and then shrug, saying, "Aw, that's good enough, they know what I mean.".
I would expect them to discharge their duties at work in a similar way.
Your boss is going to REALLY miss you!

Looking for bad grammar and spelling would be an easy way to go through a lot of resumes quickly. A resume is the first glance that an employer has of a prospective employee. I wouldn't want to hire anyone who didn't care enough to proofread their resume.

Unfortunately, most software spell and grammar checks remain woefully inadequate substitutes for good dictionaries and basic educational accomplishment. This problem is a reflection of the failure of many (not all) U.S. school systems to adequately teach basic English language and writing skills. English is a complex, changing language comprised of more exceptions to the rules than rules themselves. It is an essential skill needed for communicating in much of the world today. Until the educational institutions return to requiring basic accomplishment in language and mathematics for graduation, you cannot expect much more.
By the way, I am looking for a job.

I used to hire people too in my previous job and I have noticed that as well. You think that is bad- I have see resumes on color paper, misspellings, cooking an dancing listed as professional skills (we were hiring for administrative assistant). In school they teach how to use computer but in order to know how and what to write you have to know the first how to do it yourself. Then you can use computer, just as a tool to help you, not to do all of it for you.

bcuz they're mass emailing or mass mailing their resumes. pretty stupid that if you're going to waste all your time and effort doing that, you'd at least want to make sure everything is in proper format right? my resume wasn't the greatest but at least everything was spelled correctly. just plain laziness or stupidity. probably a combination of both

Spell check is not the only thing. There are many words in spell check that can still be used incorrectly.
