Just one snake and just one mouse?
Snakes live longer and have fewer predators. Many snakes eat mice. Predators are often more intelligent than prey, but mammals are generally more flexible in their thinking than reptiles. Mammals can also regulate their temperature better.
But neither one would win, because 2 years is just not long enough, not even if you're The Brain.

Okay, the problem here is that the snake and the mouse want to both, "take over the world". That makes the conflict interesting but the ultimate goal is world dominion, ergo, both are villians. I suppose that's okay, but who can I root for? Most of us humans (Western thinkers) are going to side with the mammal, but snakes have held sway in many primitive cultures, even here in the West and been viewed as wise, sage, and even benevolent.
I like the basic idea of the snake vs. the mouse, but I'd think that only one of them would desire to "rule the world" the other would be the control.
If it's the mouse who wants to rule which would seem more likely because it's a mammal, the snake becomes the "reluctant" and necessary hero. ie. Control.
I saw a picture of a mouse catching a ride on the back of a frog the other day. There's a component that you could introduce thus changing the "rule the world" motivation to "changing the underlying social order".
Put the snake in charge and have the mouse overthrow the snake but only with the help of the frog.
Whatd'ya think?

I would say in the end the mouse would win.

First of all the Snake usually represents evil. It is a sign of slyness, deceit, bad influence, and lies. He is isn't trusted but usually finds a way to be trusted. In the end he betrays the "person". Then the "person wises up.

The mouse on the other hand is surprisingly a strong creature. It is always under estimated because of its size but always proves itself to be worthy. It is usually ended up being respected and praised. It is also the one always unexpected to be the "Savior" in some stories. He always come through in the end.

Hope it helpful.

MY OPINION: the snake is very dishonest and untrustwrthy so it will do whatevet it takes, any dirty tricks to win the battle against the mouse; the mouse is candid itself, honest and is purest of them all, truth itself, it will fight fairely....this is not a battle of physical strenght but of values...the mouse is the road to travel for honesty, truth, love, the person taking this road will follow the rules to get to a higher level...the snake is the devil : it is not how you get there but just geting there. morally and ethically the mouse will always win

The Snake would eventually upset enough people, and be untrusted by anybody that comes across him, as he IS a snake.
The mouse would take much longer to obtain the goal, but would eventually win. biblically speaking, he is the meek one, and we know what the meek are suppose to gain.
