What makes you think you will get to a bunker? Unless you have built your own, and are close to it when the missiles are launched, then forget it. The roads would be immediately clogged as soon as the alert was given. Everyone would try to get home to be with their family or would try to get out of the cities. You would have instant gridlock. Forget it. The only way to be sure and survive nuclear attack is to never have one in the first place. Hopefully our ability to retaliate is still sufficient deterrent--there is no shortage of nut-jobs bent on acquiring the bombs.

hard to say if you were to live in a are that would get blasted by a nuclear bomb, nuclear fallout can take hundreds of years if ever to be safe to live in again

not long. but it would depending on where the missle dropped. chances are if you are in North America you wouldn't last long. I would expect total devastation if you live in the USA because we would be the main target for such missles.
