First, looking at this politically, in the U.S., requires the absence of God and religion because of our constitution. We have a history of constant discrimination against a minority group, and today the focus is on homosexuals. So, with God out of the picture, do you believe that we are right to be discriminating against American citizens and limiting their rights? I would hope we could learn from our past and give life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to all citizens.
Secondly, i find the argument that marriage is something sacred to be between a man and a woman. Again, I will use history in my argument. There are people today who are in an arranged marriage, even in the U.S. This was a very common practice around the world until the late 19th and into the 20th century. Marriage was about property, from before the old testament and in many places today. If marriage was so sacred why did it take until 100-150 years ago for it to start being about love and not money?

The continued stupidity of the masses amazes me.
The bonding of two people through love is the most sacred thing in the world, and how in the world would any 'god' or higher power question it or condem it?
And how dare this government, which is full of divorced, gun-toting, cocaine addicts, decide it's up to them to tell any two people their love is any less valuable than some other two people, based simply on their gender?
I'm not speaking of 3 men or 2 women and 1 man. I'm speaking about two individuals in a committed relationship for years and years who aren't provided the same rights that Susie and Joe can get after knowing each other for 24 hours.
Should it be legalized? Hell yes!

I don't see the big deal with this debate. People claim that marriage is some sacred union, but 50% of marriages end in divorce. What is so sacred about that? If the churches don't allow it, that's their deal. The government has no right to say that two people of the same sex can't get married. But, personally I think it should be legalized. It's not going to affect my life.

Legalize it and move on. It doesn't affect me in the least. The government shouldn't have anything to do with it. Just like they shouldn't have anything to do with abortion, drug use, etc. It's a personal decision.
If it's a religious thing, they maybe gay people should form their own religion and get married under the eyes of their God and not worry about what the Pope thinks is right.
We all have one life people, do what makes your heart happy.

I think people should allow gay marriges. Well because its a person's own right to decide who they want to marry even if its another person with the same sex. It would abolish personal freedom otherwise. And its not the government's choice who one chooses to marry no matter what. It wouldn't effect me except that it would give me a better sense that anything is possible in this diverse world.

What if three guys love each other?
It would affect me because I don't want my kids to be sexualized at an early age. I don't want to have to explain why Tom, Steve, and Bob down the street are always making out. I don't want their teacher to pass out "Heather has Two Mommies and a Daddy."
From a historical standpoint, is strikes me as odd that rampant sexuality has always preceded the death of a civilization.

Does not affect me. but it is impossible for two male or two female to marry in Gods Eyes. it take the union of Man and Woman to complete the whole. Marriage was consummated with child bearing. when they become one in their off spring . this cannot happen to a Gay couple.

Marriage was begun for a man and a woman. Any other "mating" is not a marriage. Does not affect me at all. The "why" is because of how God set things up. It is not up to human beings to change God's law.

I'm not gay, but I think they have the right to get married and get all the benefits marriage brings! Like social security, taxes, whatever else. Plus it's none of our business what other people choices are! As long as they don't come to my door asking for anything, I'm cool! So, I'm for it!!!!

Don't care, it wouldn't affect me. I'm already married in the eyes of God, couldn't care less if gays were married in the eyes of the state. We have more pressing problems to concern our country with.
