Why are so many people smokeing pot these days, it can't be because they are bored.?

I see people go buy blunts and rolling paper, each time i buy gas and can smell the stuff on them. It just seem more and more people are into it. I know some people need some kind of anti-depressant to cope with life, but it seem to me that the amount of people is larger then i realize. Am i missing something !

First, I'm glad you pointed this out. So many more people smoke pot than most people think. They'd be distraught if they knew that their doctors, lawyers, policemen, military, etc. actually smoke pot and enjoy it!

For me, it's always been a means of escaping what I consider a wholly unfair and illogical existance. I was on prescription anti-depressants once, but they only caused me to behave more erradically, more violently, and helped me none at all. Pot has always been there for me. No major side-effects and no prescriptions needed. Also, no danger of violent or irrational behavior. That's right, I said it. Don't believe the b.s. rap that the conservative right and the government have fed you about pot.

I smoked for 3 years, every day, while on active duty in the U.S. military (I served a total of 5 and left with an honorable discharge). They didn't seem to care...or they weren't really testing for it.

Its not that people are using it as an anti-depressent persay, I think that is just a creation of the media. I smoke pot sometimes because it is a healty alternative to every other drug on the market, because it is a healthy alternative to alchohol, because it is cheaper than booze and because it really enhances musical experience.

Truly, it is much healther compared to pharm drugs they want to pump everyone with nowadays. Especially the opiate drugs like Codeine and Morphine and Heroin. Also, I would much rather deal with high people then drunk people and so would the local police. (who I've asked on this matter) Besides, Alcohol is an addictive intoxicant while Pot is a non-addictive psychoactive stimulant. Its a much better alternative.

Also, I believe it might be PARTIALLY due to boredom but I'd much people smoke up then sniff gasoline, drink booze, and inhale nitrous oxide.

In a nutshell, yes, your missing it. Let's see, pot vs. alcohol. I'd rather have a bunch of people over, placid, laid back, ejoying food, rather than someone who can't handle booze and become a violent, nasty mean drunk. We are all creatures of habit. And, as such, we like good feelings. Albeit self induced or whatever. We all seek to have pleasure. But, in my humble opinion, I'd rather blaze one, order a pizza and joy enjoy rather than a self indulgance thats going to turn me into Dr. Jekle-Hyde.. Pots been around since Christ was a corporal. It has its merits. judges, attorneys, dr.'s partake. Maybe you where just raised to believe it wasn't so prevalent...BUT IT IS...

I think people drink and do drugs because to get rid of some pain. Some people I know drink and they say that it's because they need to escape reality for a while.

THE NUMBERS ARE REALLY DROPPING, BACK IN THE 60'S AND70'S MORE PEOPLE SMOKED THAN NOW, I THINK IT'S JUST THAT PEOPLE ARE MORE OPEN ABOUT IT NOW...I SMOKED FOR ALOT OF YEARS, IT FELT GOOD TO RELAX, AS TIME GOES ON YOU OUT GROW IT...
