I prefer to think that we are just socializing in a new way and with all the technology we can socialize with people from all parts of the world easily.

If your thinking, Will I become a machine?, no.Do you know how many thousands of years we would have to exist for such a thought to become a miniscule reality?
But, we are losing ourselves with reliance on these wonderful tools and toys.If we lost power tomorrow and it never came back on again, we would lose so much. We have become extremely reliant and we never think about not having hot water every time you turn the knob or lever. I bet there are a lot of people who would not know how to deal with their time if they didn't have a T.V.
It's getting ridiculous and we are descensitising ourselves in hopes of something else.If we lose our natural instincts and our roots of where we came we will be an extinct species when the lights go out and the satellites fall from the sky.

We are not shutting out the real world around us, because we have the world at an easy access due to technology. As fast pace as the world is now a days, technology makes us catch up a little.

its just a break and change in accepting new forms of communication and entertainment ...
look for example at the 30's ... how many people actually had a phone in their home ... nonetheless a tv ...
no cellphones ... no tv's ... no computer ... its all worthless technology for people to feel somewhat secure in our societies continuation of one-upping the jones' ...
we wont be less human at all ... its just that our interactions in the conventional will be much shorter and more to the point ... therefore making any emotions shared in real contact that much more absolute and powerful ... if you were mad at someone and cant really get it out over a phone call ... when you finally see them it will resurface only to cause tension ...
but positive emotions will behave in much the same manner ... at least i hope ... cause that will be the only redeeming value to an electronic influenced and overrun life

Well, that depends on what you mean by we're moving away from social things. In truth, all these electronics are connecting us even closer with the people around us. We're never going to become totally engulfed in our cyber world, there's something we just can't do there. Don't worry about it so much.

I have a Palm TX and it comes with a software that permits you to hearken to MP3s a useless ringer for an iPod. you could insert a reminiscence card into it so that you'll have extra room to carry songs. also, you could placed video clips on it and it has a higher demonstrate screen than a video iPod!

I think it's creating a sedentary lifestyle. Kids used to play outside, now they're inside playing video games, watching tv and messing around on the computer. That's just one example. What is it doing to the computer addicts? I agree. We should all go out and play until the street lights come on.

i think we will. however, we have to remember that sometimes, the original is the best. as long as we use modern technology and teh common-sense technology of before, we will be fine. technology makes our lives easier like printing newspapers instead of arranging individual blocks of letters onto a printing machine. we just have to rememeber not to become too lazy. using technology is fine but use it when necessary. if you have to write a small note to someone, write it, don't type it.

Nope, we will remain the confused, muddled mass of humanity that we always have been. Gadgets will not remove the quirks and idiosyncracies rampant in humanity.

wait until we start opting for cosmetic surgery so we can have internal harddrives ... our songs, cameras, etc. will literally be in us. We won't need the handhelds and peripherals anymore.
The of course we have to start worrying about bio-digital viruses.
