my 50 year old dad got a ticket while criusing on my 67 camaro, for having a loud exhaust. now i got a fixit ticket. i love the sound of my exhaust. it's not even that loud. i have a 350cu with 30 series flowmasters. i mean, come on, isn't that what a classic muscle car is all about???

If he was cruising in an area with noise regulations, then your Dad should pay the ticket! I would just find out what the noise laws are and where you can/can't drive, then make your decision if it's worth changing the exhaust. I think it's a muscle car and it wouldn't be right with the SOUND. LOL. I hope you also have a kickin stereo to go with it. You cannot listen to lame music in a muscle car! :) Rock on!

You these cops are pricks .. so just get a receipt stating its fixed ,, my brother and his wife had a pro street 68 convert . we use to go watch the street races . and one the cops showed up . they always went after the nice cars they give always gave a few tickets ,, at the time they had the 427 with a tunnel ram with the 2 850s so they always got a ticket for the tunnel ram , and big tires ,, all ways .. so my brother owned a shop .. witch he put a low profile manifold and took pictures and swapped the tires ,, ans sent the ticket in by mail .. and beet it every time .. if you know someone that has a shop get a receipt the it was repaired .. and hope they dont stop you again .. i love to know the school they went to .. To learn this ? right flow master and tell them the problem ..i bet if its installed right (I'm not saying it not) they should send you a letter for court . stating that's what their exhaust should sounds like .. stock .. well i love the 67 ,, i had one at 18 with the 327 ,, i had it painted 81 corvette yellow ,, i took the car out with no plates and got cough ,, the cop drove the car to my house ,and started writing tickets ,, good luck
i love all the old men crying about loud cars ,, were not talking open pipes ... a school bus has a 350 in it . if i ever get to old for a nice car ill get a desk job , its its to loud your to old .

Since he was driving the car in what is obviously a noise ordinance zone, your father should pay the ticket.

And yes, I love the loud muscle car sound too, but not at two in the morning when I have auto mechanics classes at seven--four hours' sleep tends to make me want to shoot the car that disturbed my rest, even one as nice as yours. Your father should keep his foot off the throttle when he's going through low-noise areas. There must be plenty of open areas where you can cut loose with those Flowmasters.

I'd take the Camaro to a shop and have them tone down the exhaust temporarily...enough to pass the noise ordinances and get you through the ticket without another fine. Then, if you want, you can tune it back up...and only run it in open areas or during the day. ;)

try a 40 series flowmaster they should be a little quieter or just tell your dad to stay off the gas pedal. But I agree I think a muscle car should be LOUD!

You might enjoy it, but alot of people would find it annoying, especially in a residential neighborhood. You might not care about this whenyou're in your 20's, but trust me, you will care when you are 40, and have to get up early for work, and some yo-yo is revving his engine outside your house.
I drove alot of classic muscle cars back in the day, and many of them were louder than they were fast anyway.

What a cool car! Cops just love to pull cars like your's over!
Go talk to your muffler shop man and see what he thinks you can do to quiet them down. If you dont' fix this, you will be stopped again.

Most citties and towns do have noise ordnance's for motor vehicles but alot of cops ignore them unless they have a quota to meet or are bored
