It depends on the college you're trying to get into That's only a little under the score I got, and I was accepted at two competitive universities, partially through abuse, I mean... usage of their Early Acceptance programs (Which also got rid of the essay)

I think It's a pretty good score and unless you're aiming for Ivy League or colleges that think they're on par with Ivy League or colleges that ARE on par with Ivy league, I'd say leave it, or take it again if you want to.

Also, some schools have minimun SAT scores, look at http://www.princetonreview.com to find out about schools you're interested in.

Another fact, schools don't just look at SAT scores if you're looking at Liberal Arts. Work on making yourself a well-rounded person with Extracurriculars, Sports, volunteer work, good grades, and maybe even a paying job. If it sounds like too much, pick a few of them.

The highest possible score when I took the SAT was 1600.
I don't know about now, since they've changed it.

It's pretty low. Well, not low, but average. If it were me, I'd retake it, but it depends on where you're applying. For most state schools, 1640 would be okay. Private schools, or most of them, wouldn't accept you though.

That is not very good. the new SAT goes up to 2400 so the good score start about about 2000.

when i was in school it was impossible to get a 1640 (the highest then was 1600). they redid the scoring some time ago so I think it's now 2,000 max (1,000 on each part).

It's an alright score, subtract what you got on the writing section and that's what you would've gotten on the old sat.

Personally, I'd retake it though.

Are you kidding? That's really high, maybe even higher than the SAT allows. I believe the SATs have a possible 1600 points, no more no less.
