Many have taken sides and told me that... school is what matter's the most... I believe in that, but I am not a FIRM believer... I have just entered college and my goal is to get accepted in the the Business School of Berkeley... However this sets a great amount of pressure for me, if I do fail (knock on wood) to get accepted to UCBerkeley... would I not be able to find a well paid job?... or does it matter what type of experience you have going out to the workforce?...

combination of both but what matters most is who you know. education will take you only so far in life. you can have the bachelors, masters and phD but without applicable experience, what;s the point? you could just be a teacher or something. on the other handm experience will land you the job but you'll be held back in your advancement since nearly all companies require higher level employees be educated to a certain extent depending on what the position entails. generally lower level management can get by with a bachelors but higher VP and regional ones usually require at least a masters for that. so my guess would be to stop at a masters in your field and work on interships and entry level mgmt positions for the time being. since you're business oriented, try and focus on entry level mgmt positions and not stuff like store manager or asst manager stuff. will be relavent experience but if you want to pursue something professional, stay within the corporate entity not the retail sector. if you want something like store manager stuff then as long as you have relevant exp as asst. manager or store manager success then that will be sufficient. moving onto higher level like regional sale manager or something like that, it would be beneficial for you to have the education to go along with it. going simply on experience alone it will take you longer to achieve higher positions than if you had the education to go along with it. where you et educated makes some difference but not alot. as long as you have or can prove yourself and your ability then that will carry you further than where you went to college. but having a big name degree from berkeley doesn't hurt either.

both matter. you are going to find now that most places are looking for some type of experience. there is less training time involved with someone who has experience. if you are just entering college, you might want to take advantage of internship programs when you get there. a lot of places will hire you after you internship there if you do a good job and they find you are reliable. a lot of colleges also have career planning and placement that set up on campus job interviews. those people are looking for people right out of college. take advantage of whatever your college offers.
