When I started college, my roomate and I decided not to bring a TV with us, and went the first four months of school without any TV. It was great!

I don't own a tv, so I haven't watched tv since 11/28/2005.
When my husband moved out, I told him to take all the tvs with him. I hate the darned things.
I didn't have one before we married and we didn't get one until 9/11 -- it was never off since then.
I have gone as long as 13 years, prior to that.

The only time I've ever gone without television was when I was younger and went to summer camps and each one lasted a week, so I guess a week!!! :o) We don't go without TV a lot here. But we also aren't one of those homes with five televisions either.

When I went camping every summer with my parents, I didn't have TV for a month or two at a time...I didn't miss it too much, but I did tape all the shows I was missing.
Nowadays I watch less TV than ever...I think when you grow up you realize most of the shows on TV are stupid.

Most of my childhood from age 9 to age 17 while I was in school. When the same was not done for my younger brother (and his grades were failing where as I had an A,B average), I said to hell with it and started watching again whether Mom liked it or not (and still maintained an A, B average).

If watching DVDs and playing video games doesn't count, I go weeks, sometimes months at a time without watching TV. Only do so when I'm at friends' houses.
Traded my cable for high speed internet and don't miss it a bit.

For me, the longest period was durning a week long camping trip in Death Valley. I know some wise guy will come in and say he spent six months in Tibet, or something, but I've never been to Tibet.
