your question seemed to be cut off at the end. i understand that you are trying to find out what benefits you are entitiled to if you are unemployed and pregnant. if you have been with your employer for at least 12 months you can take advantage of the family medical leave act (fmla). http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/fmla/

your employer should also have medical benefits available to you as well of which you can take advantage of prior to take advantage of fmla. best case scenario would be up to six months paid time off with the two of these.

plus... you are entitled to state disablitly as well, which is up to two months. this (best case and depending on the state in which you reside) is a total of 8 months. granted, disability doesn't pay you 100% of your pay, but you still will get something.

good luck, and i hope this helps out. of course you are going to need to do some homework of your own, and hopefully this steers you in the that direction.

You should be entitled to a maternity grant. That does depend on your situation though. If you are a single mum then you should get the full amount. If you have a partner, his earnings will be taken into account. I don;t think your employer has to give you anything if you have handed in your notice. If you are single and you are in England, you can claim Income Support and possibly other help. I don;t know about anywhere else though. You could try the local government website for where you are. Just type in the name of the council where you live into the search box and it should find a link.

If the doctor orders you to be on bedrest or something, depending on how long you've been with the company you should still be able to receive your benefits. Especially if your opted for long term disability insurance. I wasn't so lucky. I was working in a chemical testing lab and couldn't be around the chemicals, but I had only been working there 8 weeks so they laid me off. I got the raw end of the stick. Good luck, I wish you the best and I hope you have a healthy pregnancy.

Usually, every employer has it's own set of rules for pregnant employees,if I were you, I'd get busy finding out exactly what those rules are. If your company has no union representation at all, you could be in a bad way, even with union benefits, you need to find out excatly where you stand either way. GOOD LUCK!!!!

If you hand in your notice.. doesn't that mean you are no longer entiteled to maternity benefits from work? I think just get doctors notes, and ask management to help you deal with stress. If they refuse then see your lawyers about constructive dismissal.

Quitting and taking a medical leave are very different. You need to consult your state's labor laws as each one can be different.
