Yes. But people do insult you constantly when you have opposing views.

There are limits in the US but for the most part yes. I assume it is the same in the UK. Such as you cannot just start insulting someone on the street, you cannot yell fire in a crowded theater, you cannot go into a black church and yell racial slurs, all of those are considered disturbing the peace or inciting a riot.

But if you are willing to fill out the proper paper work you would probably be surprised at what you can get away with saying here. The KKK has public meetings a lot and what they say is reprehensible to most people in the world. You can see how many people speak out against Bush and are not carted off to jail because of it. Even with our limitations we have a lot of free speach to use.

Yes.

Yes, people do it pretty much all of the time. The only time anyone seems to care is if the speech is threatening.

For example, someone threatens the president, or a student's blog threatens bodily harm to teachers and/or schoolmates.

Of course some employers see things otherwise and have use blogs to terminate people, but I would say we have free speech in the US

In the U.S., you can basically speak freely; however, there will always be people who criticize what you say.

You can't yell fire in a theatre but I think you can speak rather freely overall.

SHHHHHHH!!!! Someone will HEAR you! I think someone's listening right now. Did you hear that? That click! I think this site's bugged! There it is again! I didn't ask this question! Of course we can speak freely!

You can speak but you have to suffer the consequences. You are ostracized and called names like unpatriotic, unamerican, godless, KKK, cowards and on and on and on.
There are some things we can't say without being arrested - threatening to kill someone, that kind of thing.
