I would say by the far one of the best is Hajime no Ippo. If you haven't seen it, watch it. Hard to find these days, but berserker is also good. Full metal alchemist...ending was disappointing. Dragonball and Ranma just ran for too long. Bleach and Naruto has too many useless episodes. Fate/Stay night is also ok. Love Hina, Canvas and Canvas 2 for those who like comedy and ecchi style humor...what else is there. Tokyo Underground and Trinity Blood are also kick *** animes. Geez there's just so many. If you like "dark" animes then Blood+ and egro proxy. Can't go wrong with the gundam series...or Robotech/macross. Initial D for any racing or car fanatics. The list goes on and on but I'll end it here...I know I left out some other real good ones too...aw wells

Everyone's anime choices here (except Ms. Kaleido Star, which is actually a good anime and not too main stream, though it's a pity she can't spell right) are disgustingly stereotypical and boring. Why can't anyone ever leave the house and buy an obscure title? You might be shocked that--wow!--you don't need bloody Adult Swim to choose a good anime (as every single long-running show they've chosen is just utter crap, each following the EXACT same storyline ideas with a display of the EXACT same unoriginal character types).
I like Now and Then, Here and There. It's different, with the flare that all the older animes used to have: the appearance of hand-drawn characters and hand-painted backdrops. The characters are compelling and the top villains are as they should be: pure, unadulterated evil. The kind that strangles kittens and children, beats up little girls, and is so out of his mind from insanity that paranoia and child-like dependence on his loyal, mothering servant sets in is what a real villain should be (and exactly how he is).
It's a no holds-barred sort of show and what more un-fetish-related animes are missing. The boys may not be tall and pretty, the girls with large floppy breasts and an obnoxious, idiotic giggle, but they act more human than any other anime character.

I love Sailor Moon.
I am a huge fan. I started watching when I was around 7 years old... now at 20... Still ABSOLUTELY in love.
The characters are so beautiful. The animation is lively. The scenes are funny. The story line is AMAZING.
I personally prefer the english translated ones, but since they have transgender characters, you can only watch the later episodes in Japanese.
The live action not so good... but still fun to laugh at.
The actualy comic book are pretty great too. Too bad they are all in Japanese.

D.N.Angel - Shojo anime. Cute guys. A nice story. Dark and
Krad are both awesome.
GetBackers- Cool anime because it has twists and it's
mysetrious. The character Akabane is so
evil and he's cool.
YuYu Hakusho- Mainly the story and because my favorite
characters are Kurama and Yoko.
Yu-gi-oh- it's better in the japanese version. There's more
violence and it's way better than the english version.
(every anime is better in japanese in my opinion).
Yeah, go Bakura and Ryou!
I guess I have a lot of favorite anime that I can't choose just one ,sorry.

I LOVE NARUTO!! The storylines are great! And because they don't just focus on one character it makes it interesting! Plus it can be really funny or really sad! And it has a wide variety of characters makes the conflicts funny! I love that anime! You should watch it! It's on Cartoon Network monday-thursday at 9:00 pm! And you can get caught up by watching the previous episodes on www.youtube.com!

My favorite at this point (it changes all the time) is Jyu Oh Sei. It is such a good series. It is only 11 episodes long but they manage to fit the whole story in. It was one this season on Japanese TV, so I am hoping there will be a sequel soon.

Honey and Clover. I love the art and the characters just bring the show to life. It's really funny and yet sad at times and some of the episodes really bring out the emotions of the viewers.

I think Witch Hunter Robin was good, but right now I really like Ghost in the Shell. They both have strong women as the central characters, and take place in some 'other' time and place than here and now.
For something strange, you might try Paranoia or R.O.D.
