Neither. Funding right now is being spent on identifying new ways of seeing other planets located at other stars. So far, over 200 planets have been identified.

Think this out- we find a star thats close to the same kind as our own star the sun. We find a solar system with planets- the odds are possible that life would exist at such a location.

NASA has made the written commitment to make the first intestellar launch by the year 2025. I don't think they'll make it by that time- we haven't quite worked the bugs out of a good, fast, reliable star drive yet. The other problem is stars are far away- if we could launch a starship RIGHT NOW- we wouldn't get a decent result for at least 61 years- a 30 year trip there, 1 year of study and 30 year return trip.

Right now, the "Stargate" programs that are being developed show the most promise.

Since wormholes are only a mathematical possibility at this point, we need to go with some sort of rocket program. The main thing is to git the gov. out of space travel and make it a private enterprise.

Neither! We need to put humans on Mars. End of story. This is the first step in outward exploration. The moon didn't count, it is still under the influence and gravity of the Earth so it's not like we really left the Earth.

Our world is reaching critical mass in terms of the population. Space exploration is the only appealing solution to that problem. The alternative is major war, disease, famine. To respond to raj, you cannot feed the masses as you wish because of corrupt governments stealing from the people what is sent to relieve their plight. Comes under the heading of, Great Idea, Lousy Execution. To avoid the alternative listed above, we need to reach for the stars.
