You can run a piece of thread through it and tie it off discreetly around the ear. This may not fly with the military either so if push comes to shove, you can let it heal up and just get it re-pierced when you get out of the service.

If you just got it pierced in the last 6 months it won't stay open for more than a week without an earing in it. I know from personal experience.

stick piece of grass in it, or wear a earing and cover it wid a bandaid

break off a very, very small piece of straw off a broom. Burn both the ends and apply alcohol to both ends.
