Make a copy of your photo -- by selecting the image that's in Word Doc, copying it and storing it someplace else, and then try changing the extension of the saved copy to JPEG, by right-clicking the file and selecting the Rename option. It might pop-up a dialog box saying that changing the extension might make the file unusable, but still go ahead and do it, and then open it in Picture Viewer or Image Viewer application. If it opens, then I think you'll be good to go.
Hope this helps and good luck!

You will probably find that your photo is a picture that is 'embeded' within a word document. Open the word document select the picture and then using the 'right-mouse' menu save the picture. The file that is created will probably be a BMP, GIF or JPG. If this needs further conversion, open the file using Windows Paint and then do a "Save As" changing the file type to file type required.

I can suggest you a work around for this, well first of all sign up for Yahoo 360.
Then load the pic you want as Avtaar into Yahoo 360.
Then log back into Yahoo Answers.
Goto My Q&A link on top of the page.
Then goto Add Details.
There you would see option for selecting pic for your profile.
Select your Yahoo 360 pic for your avtaar and would be able to see it.
Hope this helps.

you can convert it to .pdf file from word doc..
after open .pdf in photoshop and 'save as' as 'jpeg'..
for use your jpeg file as avatar;as i know you have to have 360 account..
(another way to make jpeg from .doc;you can hold down 'print screen' and open this image in photoshop..after crop your image from there and use)

Save the .doc as a web page into your 'My Documents' folder, you'll then have a file called 'whatever you call it.htm' and a folder callled 'whatever you call it files'.... in this folder will be the .jpg/.gif/.bmp (whichever) you want to use
